After going through certification and achieving your goal a whole array of jobs will become available. Being a MCSE will put you step above the rest. Although not every IT job requires a MCSE background, it will behoove you to obtain one. The way the IT industry is continually expanding you will only benefit your career advancement. There are many jobs an MCSE would be able to do. A professional would be able to become a system administrator. You would be able to work on many types of servers as a server manager or perhaps a technical support engineer. Restoring and repairing systems. It would also be a basis for becoming an infrastructure management analyst or a senior server specialist later on if so desired. Also many professionals become "consultants".
